We came home from my sister's this weekend to a cold house. From our limited knowledge, it looks like our furnace is on the fritz. The furnace kicks on, runs for 1-5 seconds, then goes off. We tried a diagnostic that we found somewhere on the internet to determine if it's the furnace or the thermostat (Amelia had the link, I don't), and it appears that the thermostat is OK. Amelia will try to get someone out to look at the furnace tomorrow. Keep yer fingers crossed...

That's one of those things that makes you wish you still lived in an apartment. When you're in an apt, you call up the super and HE has to deal with it, pay for it and possibly even give you compensation for it. When you're a homeowner, you have to deal with it.
I've often wondered which is worse: Having the furnace go out in the winter or the AC go out in the summer. My opinion is losing the AC in the summer mostly for one reason. When you're cold, you can bundle up and pretty much stay warm. When you're hot, other than shoving your head in the fridge, you're kinda hosed. Of course, if you're house gets too cold and the pipes burst, then that would make it suck alot worse to lose your furnace in the winter.
Am I babbling again? Sorry 'bout that. Hope your furnace is fixed soon.
