LOL, be careful and keep your mouth shut while changing him. :-X The first few weeks when we'd go out, I'd make sure I packed extra outfits as little guy was peeing through his clothes and would do so while being held. Make sure to point things down in the diaper, it helps a lot!
Fortunately, things were pointing away from me when he let loose. He covered his top, face, hat and the top of the bassinet. But your advice is well worth heeding :)

My friend, Rattus, told me pretty much the same thing, but I just wasn't thinking. I also didn't expect the fountain. I thought it'd be more of a dribble, like when Bambina used to let loose on us. Sigh...
I do feel somewhat better that he did the same thing to the nurse, only he got Amy's bed, too :)
yeah.. that's about how long it took me to get peed on. :) here's my tips for changing. 1) put the new diaper underneath before you even think about removing the wet diaper. 2) loosen the straps (or whatever those are called, but don't take the diaper off right away. they seem to notice that things have loosened up and wheeeeeeeee. so give them a few seconds while you still have the wet diaper covering their pieces. 3) after the lil one has his few seconds. whip off that wet one and immediately pull the clean one up and cover right away. hold it over all all times while doing the straps. i tended to 'push' the diaper flush the entire time while covering and strapping the new one on.
changing poopers are a little trickier since you obviously have to take time cleaning up all the bits and pieces and creases. some people say that changing girls is harder because you don't want poop where it's not supposed to be. but boys have so many more creases and i swaer stff justhides all over the place. what's up with that?
anyhoo... after a few weeks, it seems to get less likely. we were getting sprayed pretty much every time first few days. so, give it a week or so and you'll notice a decrease in the walls getting damp. ;)
At issue is that I've never just changed a wet. The kid is a prodigious pooper, at least at this point. I still haven't figured out "the routine". With Bambina, I do things in a certain set way that I find greatly reduces the likelihood of "issues". I don't yet have that routine with Bambino. Every time I do something different. I'm sure that, with time, I'll come up with a reliable routine like yours.

EXTRA DIAPERS.
Put one over him while changing out the other one.
Works like a charm. Or at least you won't get sprayed.
